LOT OF 2: US FEDERAL PERIOD INDIAN HEAD AND EAGLE HEAD POMMEL MILITIA OFFICER'S SWORDS. Lot consists of: (A) US Federal Period Indian Princess pommel sword with straight blade decorated with fire blued panels for about half its length. The panels feature gold washed foliate and patriotic motifs. The blade exhibits a gray patina with scattered blemishes throughout its length. Most of the fire blued finish is gone. Hilt features a languet with a spread winged federal eagle and an Indian Princess. Eagle head quillon. Female bust adorned with a headdress pommel and full backstrap with decorated knucklebow. The hilt exhibits a pleasing patina. Mother of Pear grip scales with chips secured by brass wire. Hilt wobbles slightly when handled. Complete with its brass scabbard that features engraved foliate motifs on the obverse side. Scabbard exhibits scattered blemishes with traces of original gilding under an even patina. CONDITION: Good. (B) US Federal Period eagle head pommel sword with straight blade decorated with fire blued panels for about half its length. The panels feature foliate and patriotic motifs. The blade exhibits a gray patina with scattered blemishes throughout its length. Most of the fire blued finish is gone, as well as the gold wash that filled the motifs. Hilt features a languet with Lady Columbia atop a cannon and holding a pole topped with a liberty cap. Shell quillon. Eagle head pommel and full backstrap with decorated knucklebow. The hilt exhibits a pleasing patina. Fluted Mother of Pear grip scales exhibit a few blemishes. Hilt wobbles slightly when handled. Sword knot attached. Complete with its brass scabbard that features engraved foliate motifs on the obverse side. Scabbard exhibits scattered blemishes with traces of original gilding under an even patina. The scabbard exhibits a few dents and appears slightly warped. CONDITION: Good.
