Louis Aragon (1897-París-1982). Man Ray (Filadelfia 1890 – París 1976). "Les Chambres. Poème du temps qui ne passe pas". Les Éditeurs Français Réunis, Paris, 1969. 12.50 x 17.50 cm. An extraordinary artist’s book that reflects on the nature of time—both that which passes and that which does not—and the proximity of death, one of the persistent obsessions of the surrealist Aragon. Written shortly before the passing of his muse and wife, Elsa Triolet, the poem is imbued with a profound melancholy regarding the approaching end, yet it reaffirms that the act of having loved is the sole source of meaning in existence. 105 pages. Unbound (in loose sheets). Printed in the third quarter of 1969. Includes 3,200 standard copies on vellum, numbered 1 through 3,200.
