Luigi Brambati (1925-1983) - La serenata

Luigi Brambati ( Castiglione d'Adda 1925 - Milan 1983) The Serenade Oil on canvas Signed bottom right Dimensions with frame: 98x78 cm Painting: 80x60 cm Luigi Brambati was an Italian painter and etcher. He trained in Milan where, in 1945, he attended the Castello Art School. On this occasion he befriended many other artists of Lombard vedutismo of the 20th century, such as Fedeli, Consadori, Castellani, Moro, Labò, Barbieri and Novello. He took part in Milanese shows at the Permanente and Brera. A landscape painter, he is drawn to lagoon scenes and worked in Burano and on the other islands. He was later drawn to Brittany, where he moved and worked for a long time. In Italy he collaborates regularly with the Ponterosso gallery in Milan. Rossana Bossaglia writes, in the catalog introduction to the 1993 solo exhibition at Galleria Ponte Rosso: "Brambati has behind him a naturalism with light-toned traits, thus vital and light, yet at the same time the tendency, from a twentieth-century heritage, toward the rigorous and summarily synthesized rendering of images, especially in the figures. This double characterization, which often translates into landscape animation, with characters quickly sketched up to the threshold of silhouette, in the postwar period encounters the great lesson of neorealism; and it yields a simplification and strengthening of the sign, which keeps Brambati from the temptation - easy in an artist so gifted, with a keen gaze and a quick hand - toward aesthetic prettiness." Insured shipment Authentic work in good conservation condition The frame shown in the photos is provided at no additional cost so that the work can be exhibited immediately upon arrival. It is included as a courtesy and is not considered an integral part of the artwork. Therefore any potential damage to the frame that does not affect the artwork itself will not constitute valid grounds for opening a claim or requesting the order to be canceled.
