Necklaces with a large briolette-cut gemstone appeared in the early 20th century and enjoyed great popularity until the 1930s. Aquamarines, amethysts and citrines were particularly popular in this setting. This necklace presents a luminous, large citrine of around 75.00 carats in this way. The gemstone has a cool, slightly smoky gold color and looks like frozen autumn light. The setting and chain clearly take a back seat to the large citrine - and yet they are able to embody the cool, elegant style of Art Déco in an exemplary manner. Luxurious, heavy chain links made of solid platinum nestle around the neck in a pattern of doubled rings. Graphic shapes, set with sparkling diamonds, lead over to the citrine and hold it in a flower-cup-like setting. The necklace was most likely created in Germany. A very similar model can be found in the catalog of the jeweler F. Todt from the 1931/32 season, whose corresponding page we show last. We were able to discover this elegant piece of jewellery in Berlin. We supply it with an independent gemmological certificate.
