Luxurious Vintage Brooch With 6.60 ct Diamonds in Platinum, ca. 1960

No flower is as symbolic and yet as relevant in its meaning as the rose. As a symbol of love, it was already known in ancient times, as it was considered an attribute of the goddess of love Aphrodite. The present brooch is designed in the shape of a rose. The petals are three-dimensionally curved and set with diamonds all over. In total, about 6.60 ct of diamonds of various cuts are set in platinum and sparkle with every movement. A double pin on the back holds the precious brooch securely: it is a so-called "fur clip", as was worn on fur coats in the Midcentury. However, other heavier fabrics can also be combined with the brooch. The double pin, the design and workmanship of the rose with details such as the doubled and curved flower stem set with baguettes place the brooch in the years around 1960. However, it is not only equipped with modern diamonds: The majority of the diamonds are old European cuts from around 1900, presumably taken from an heirloom. Perhaps it was once a gift of love that took on a deeper meaning through the use of the old diamonds. The rose is beautifully preserved and is a high quality piece of jewellery that will not lose any of its timelessness in the decades to come.
