Second edition, corrected and augmented. Beautiful complete set of its two volumes, devoted to the French civil procedure under the First Empire. Jacques Pigeau, former lawyer and professor at the Faculty of Law of Paris, was an important figure of the French legal doctrine. This work constitutes a precious testimony of the judicial organization and the practice of law at the beginning of the 19th century. Remarkable old bindings: * Two volumes in full calfskin of the period. * Smooth spines richly adorned with gilding, with elegant geometric and floral motifs. * Red title labels and green volume labels. * Presence at the center of the covers of armorial escutcheons, presumably the heraldry of a family, the identification of which remains to be established. * A cohesive set presenting a beautiful decorative quality. State of conservation: Interior in very, very good condition, remarkably fresh for volumes over two centuries old. Clean paper, excellent readability and overall preservation. Spines particularly beautiful, with gilding well preserved. Some wear and small leather losses on the covers, without altering the overall elegance of the bindings. To note: a tear with loss on a blank page located at the end of the volume, with no impact on the text. A fine set of First Empire legal bibliography, particularly interesting for the freshness of its interiors, the richness of its bindings, and the presence of ancient heraldry.
