Magnificent Pendant Brooch with Diamonds & Pearls, c. 1880

One of the most beautiful inventions of our ancestors is the pendant brooch: a piece of jewellery that can be worn in both functions. Since in the late 19th century the brooch was worn centrally in front of the neckline, just like the pendant, goldsmiths gave many pieces of jewellery this dual function. This also made it worth investing in particularly valuable pieces of jewellery, as they could then be worn twice as often. This piece of jewellery is also a pendant brooch. Thanks to two interchangeable mounts, it can be worn as desired - either as a pendant or as a brooch: the mount that is not currently in use can be unscrewed by hand and does not get in the way. The pendant brooch presents an arrow as a showpiece, the end of which ends in a blossom of cream-coloured pearls. A sparkling wreath of diamonds unfolds around it. With a total of around 2.75 ct of diamonds in various historical cuts, the jewel is particularly precious. The very precise and fine workmanship also speaks for the quality of the piece. The diamonds are typically set in silver, but the back and mountings are made of high-carat red gold. The natural darkening of the silver has already been taken into account, as it allows the diamonds to shine in contrast. This first-class piece of jewellery from the late 19th century is in very good condition. We have added the silver chain in our workshop so that it can be worn again as a brooch and also as a pendant.
