silver-plated and gilded cigarette case - ca. 1910 with markings (PEKA = Maison Paul Kramer Neuchatel) on the inside a handwritten inscription: "La Boissière-École / EMEH Hériot / 1954-1960" This refers directly to the École Régionale du Premier Degré Hériot in the French village La Boissière-École. This boarding school was founded in 1886 by Commandant Olympe Hériot on his castle estate. The inscription indicates that this antique case between 1954 and 1960 was given as a very personal farewell or anniversary gift to (or worn by) a military orphan (Enfant de Troupe) or staff member of the school.
