The cap band – in silver – is engraved with Anaximander's profile on the front and the motto: "The infinite is immortal and indestructible" on the back, reflecting his cosmological view. At the top of the cap is set a coin depicting an owl, symbol of philosophy, considered as such by Hegel in the nineteenth century.
