Makayhos - [Canvas] Horror Icons – Eternal Circle

The work depicts a circular sculptural composition that gathers five legendary horror cinema figures, each characterized by its own masks, the clawed glove, and grotesque features immobilized in a solemn gathering. The busts and faces emerge with a powerful physical and three-dimensional presence from the stone-like material, defining a perfect fusion between the sculptural volumes of the subjects, the layered surface of the background, and the different textures of the relief costumes. The precious gold veins crossing the surface of the white marble and the carved frame represent an explicit reference to the ancient art of Kintsugi, highlighting the value of cracks to symbolize the fragmentation of terror, the sacredness of the incubic imagination, and the nobility of collective fears through the artistic reassembly of the fragments. It should be noted that the work is not a true marble bas-relief or a three-dimensional sculpture, but the visual effect of a 2D canvas studied to offer an optical illusion of exceptional depth and material relief. A conceptual artwork for a collection, where the grand history of horror cinema meets the rigor of classical sculpture and the philosophy of imperfection, celebrating the enchantment of modern myths. ⠀ Disclaimer: This artwork is an artist’s interpretation and is not an official or licensed product.
