Lot of 12 Eggs in Natural Malachite – 1.56 kg Technical Details Object type: Processed mineral / decorative eggs Mineral: 100% natural malachite (not reconstructed, not synthetic) Number of pieces: 12 Total weight of the lot: 1562 g (1.562 kg) Origin: Private family collection (items collected by grandfather during over 40 years of residence in Zambia and related travels in the region between Zimbabwe, Botswana and South Africa) Main specimen dimensions: approx. 9.5 cm (height) x 6.5 cm (width) Description Prestigious and elegant lot consisting of 12 natural malachite eggs of varying sizes, fully worked and polished. The items come from a private family collection, kept and inherited from the grandfather, who lived in Zambia for over 40 years and regularly traveled to the neighboring Southern African countries (Zimbabwe, Botswana and South Africa). The group stands out for the extraordinary visual richness of the veining, characterized by the typical concentric zonation ("malachite eyes") and wavy stripes in a rich range of green tones. The lot includes: 1x Large Egg: Main specimen of notable size and substantial weight, with dense, well-defined concentric zonation and strong aesthetic impact. 11x Medium-Small Eggs: Assorted eggs polished to a smooth finish in different sizes with varied natural patterns and color shades. Condition and Transparency Notes The items are in good overall condition, with a bright surface polish. Being a natural mineral with a botryoidal habit, the following structural characteristics are visible and present: Natural stone structure: Small natural cavities, surface pores and micro-fissures along the growth lines of the mineral, typical of the original rough stone formation (as clearly shown in the detailed photos). Surface: Small local areas with natural matrix or slight polishing imperfections due to the form of the raw block. All photographs (including those with a tape measure and precision scale) were taken in natural light and are an integral part of the lot description.
