### Antique Fireplace Garniture – Japy Frères & Cie – Medal of Honor – Marble and Bronze – 19th Century Magnificent antique French fireplace garniture, probably dating from the second half of the 19th century, in Napoleon III style. This elegant and imposing ensemble consists of three matching pieces: a central marble-and-bronze clock, accompanied by two decorative candelabras. The clock is equipped with a French mechanical movement bearing the famous stamp **« Japy Frères & Cie – Medal of Honor »**, testifying to the craftsmanship of this important French clockmaking manufactory. The set is distinguished by the richness of its bronze ornaments, marble elements and refined finishes, characteristic of antique fireplace garnitures. ### Dimensions and weight **Central clock:** * Height: 42 cm, including the top ornament. * Width: 23 cm. * Approximate weight: 6 kg. **Two candelabras:** * Height: 24 cm each. * Width: 11 cm each. * Total approximate weight: 1.5 kg. Total weight of the set: about 8 kg. ### Condition and operation The clock is in generally good condition, with signs of age and use normal for an object of this antiquity. **The movement and striking are functional.** The clock has been personally tested for three days to verify its operation. During this period, the movement functioned and the striking was also tested successfully. The balance wheel is present and the mechanism can be wound manually with a key. ### Important information regarding use As with many old mechanical pendulum clocks, movement or transport can slightly affect its adjustment and cause it to stop. After installation, it may be necessary to very delicately reposition the clock to restore smooth pendulum motion and a balanced tick-tock. Once correctly positioned and adjusted, it can operate normally. **An explanatory instruction sheet will be included with the parcel** to help the future owner perform the small adjustments needed after transport and to use the clock under best conditions. ### Clarification regarding the key A winding key size No. 7 will be supplied with the clock. This key allowed winding the movement and carrying out the function tests. However, size No. 8 is recommended for perfectly adapted use. With the No. 7 key, winding should be performed very gradually, with small movements and great caution, never forcing. The use of a suitable No. 8 key is preferable for regular winding. ### Packaging and shipping The set will be packed with the utmost care, considering its age, weight and the fragility of its decorative elements. Each piece will receive individual and reinforced protection, with appropriate packing materials to minimize the risk of movement and shock during transport.
