manufacture d'orfèvrerie Dupper & Bernhold (D.B.E.) - Ewer - Crystal

I offer without reserve this wine ewer (or claret jug) in Art Nouveau / Jugendstil style, dating from the late 19th or early 20th century (1890–1900), typical of German silverware of that era. The mount in silvered metal features sculpted work with organic lines, adorned with superb relief floral motifs and a lid surmounted by an ornate handle. The body is made up of a crystal bottle engraved by wheel with matching floral motifs. The craftsman's mark is present on the handle. It is the Dupper & Bernhold (D.B.E.) silversmithing manufactory. Founded in 1890 in Esslingen am Neckar, this German factory was renowned for its high-quality silver-plated table objects. The manufactory is famous for its Jugendstil-style creations. This quality piece weighs 1.270 kg and stands 31.5 cm high. The ewer is in decent condition with signs of use and wear. Notably on the metal with areas of silvering loss and oxidation.
