Marc Gonz - Blue hair

Marc Gonz resistance. In front of one of his paintings, we don’t look at an image. We face an inner landscape — a tactile memory we didn’t know we carried within us. The way Marc Gonz works consists in burying layer after layer; in this process of burial, a face is formed, part of the disorder and error, to find a harmony. Marc Gonz’s works, through matter and color, present us with a distorted version of reality. The brutality and density of the brushstroke reveal a visceral work, sometimes vibrant, grotesque and primitive, but at the same time it expresses deep emotions, which remind us of the ancestral, the spiritual, going to the essence without artifices, an excavation of the soul. With a mix of abstraction and expressionism, they create a transformation of the human form, where its meaning transcends. All of this gives us an idea of his complexity and leads us down the path to the deepest parts of the unconscious. The artist himself manufactures his own paintings, achieving a impasto technique in which density is recreated by shaping large, overflowing masses of paint. The volume of the brushstrokes turns the works into almost sculptural pieces, creating microcosms that adopt their own identity when we approach. Degree in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona.
