Title: Le Moulin Rouge ㅤ School: Catalan School (20th century) ㅤ Author: Maria Asunción Raventós ㅤ Style: Expressionism / Figurative Abstraction ㅤ Technique: Oil on canvas ㅤ Condition: Good overall state of conservation. ㅤ Circle and artistic influence: The composition participates in the languages of European figurative renewal of the 20th century, with a marked geometric simplification and an expressive treatment of architecture. The Cubist and Expressionist influence is especially perceptible in the fragmentation of space. ㅤ Interpretation of the famous Moulin Rouge through a structure of geometric planes, diagonals and simplified architectural shapes. The mill dominates the upper part of the composition, while the base is built with dark, red, ochre and gray volumes that provide a strong structural sense. ㅤ The work is presented without a frame. ㅤ Maria Asunción Raventós develops in this work a modern language of synthesis, where figuration is transformed through geometry, matter and the expressiveness of color, deliberately moving away from academic representation. ㅤ Observations: ㅤ The work may incur damage during transport even with proper packaging.
