Mario Giacomelli (1925-2000) - Senza titolo

Pictorial work by photographer Mario Giacomelli (1925-2000) Untitled, 1964. Signed and dated on the canvas at the bottom left; signed and dedicated on the verso. Mixed media painting. The painting measures 43 x 35.5 cm (with frame 62 x 68). The work belongs to the painterly production of the photographer who also explored the art of poetry and painting. As evidenced by the book "Mario Giacomelli pittore" (Campisano ed. 2022) in the 1960s "there are works that show a clear influence of Burri [...] but also a beautiful series of landscapes, with some figurative elements still recognizable" (p. 26). The work is dedicated to Maddalena and Giancarlo Cavalloro. The latter was a businessman from Viterbo who is mentioned in the aforementioned book (p. 23) as a friend and avid collector of Giacomelli.
