Massive Nephrite Jade with Fibrous Textures Monumental...

Impressive specimen of nephrite from Gilgit-Baltistan, Himalayas — This nephrite jade specimen presents as an imposing massive block, partially polished, highlighting the fibrous texture and the compact density typical of this mineral. Its smooth surface reflects an intense range of colors, from deep forest green to lighter, nearly translucent tones, with interwoven veins attesting to its metamorphic origin. Mineralogically, nephrite is a calcium-magnesium silicate (Ca2(Mg,Fe)5Si8O22(OH)2), belonging to the tremolite-actinolite series of the amphibole group. Its exceptional toughness is a direct consequence of the interlaced microcrystalline structure, where millions of fibrous microcrystals are oriented in random directions, giving it mechanical strength superior to many other minerals. The specimen comes from the remote northern regions of Pakistan, specifically the Gilgit-Baltistan province, nestled in the majestic Himalayan range and the Karakoram mountain system. This locality is renowned for its high-quality nephrite deposits, formed by hydrothermal metasomatism in ultramafic serpentinite contexts, in a tectonically active and geologically complex environment. The notable dimensions and natural shape, albeit with slight polishing to enhance intrinsic beauty, make this block of great interest. Its proportions and the aesthetic quality of the material qualify it as both a museum-display piece and a potential focal point in a prestigious mineral collection. The preservation state is excellent, with no significant structural defects, and the polishing has splendidly highlighted the mineral’s natural patterns, accentuating nephrite’s characteristic silky luster. The base has been specially cut to ensure optimal stability, allowing a safe and attractive display of the entire specimen."} } )? Wait ensure JSON exact. The extra characters at end?
