Maud Frances Eyston Sumner (1902-1985)

Still Life with Flowers and a Book signed 'SUMNER' (lower left) oil on canvas 41.5 x 50.5cm, Condition Report The canvas has not been relined, holds good tension and is largely in plane, though there are two minor deformations to the top and bottm left hand corners. Overall with age related craquelure, mostly visible to the right hand side of the flower bowl. There are a handful of unusual waxy accretions, mostly notably to the left hand edge. Commensurate with age, there is a fine layer of ingrained dirt and some yellowing of the palest passages of paint. Some possible retouchings visible under UV. May benefit from a gentle clean.
