Across a dark, shifting terrain, the painting holds its forms at the edge of recognition: bands of muted green, earth and smoke are cut by trembling pale lines, while a small white block glints in the upper field and a deep green rectangle settles below. I needed to paint a place that could contain uncertainty without explaining it. I am drawn to the moment when a boundary is not a wall but a pulse: something that separates, protects, and still allows passage. The dark areas carry what I cannot name directly; the quieter planes offer a temporary ground. Painting lets me stay with this tension, where disorientation can become attention and silence can remain open rather than empty. ___ I am interested in how a form can remain isolated and still alter what surrounds it. I do not seek to make these marks describe a path or have their relationships resolve into a recognizable figure. I work with the possibility that a surface can retain traces of passage, boundaries, and presences that never fully reveal themselves.
