Medieval, Crusaders Era Iron Knight's Sword - 1003 mm

Massive European one-handed sword with an octagonal disk pommel – (13th–14th century) The sale is restricted to the EU!!! Two-edged iron sword with a broad blade tapering toward the tip and a central fuller on both sides. The hilt consists of a straight guard and an octagonal, edge-beveled disk pommel. The tang lies free; the organic grip covering is not preserved. The form can be assigned to the Oakeshott type XII milieu. Stylistic dating to the late 13th to early 14th century. Measurements and weight: • Overall length: 1.003 mm • Maximum blade width: 62 mm • Length of the fuller: about 490 mm • Free tang between guard and pommel: 123 mm • Length of the guard: 230 mm • Pommel: about 55 × 55 mm • Weight: 1.545 g Condition: Corrosion traces and material losses on the surface and the blade edges. Dark, partly glossy surface. The nature and extent of prior cleaning, conservation or restoration measures are not clarified. No additions! Blade, guard and pommel are original and belong together. The photos are part of the condition description. Provenance according to the seller: Since 2011 in a private collection in North Rhine-Westphalia. Previously a private collection in southern Germany, acquired there in 1969. The sale is restricted to the EU!!!
