Alle Auktionen / Zeitgenössische Kunst / MEDSAN - Totoro on a Starry Night (星降る夜のトトロ) - UNIQUE WORK
THERE IS ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD - EDITION 1/1 On this square format, Medsan seats Totoro, the great forest spirit from My Neighbor Totoro (Studio Ghibli), on a knotted branch overlooking a sleeping village. A big gray body, cream belly crossed with dark chevrons, he sets his clawed feet on the branch and fixes the viewer with his wide, open round eyes, whiskers standing up, ears pointed to the sky. Around him, the night swirls: a deep blue sky pierced by light swirls, stars circled by yellow halos and, in the upper right, a crescent moon wrapped in lemon light. On the left, a large black cypress rises like a flame to the top of the frame. Below, the village roofs let a few lit windows filter around a spindly bell tower, then blue hills roll to the horizon. Night blue dominates, warmed by the yellow of the stars and the brown of the trunk. A quiet vigil, as if the forest spirit keeps watch over the villagers’ sleep. A unique and poetic piece, ideal for bringing a touch of nocturnal reverie to the interior of a collector who loves the Ghibli universe.
