An antique micrometer, a French-made scientific optical instrument, probably dating from the 19th century. lentille flou The device is constructed mainly of brass and comprises an eyepiece, several optical elements with prisms/mirrors, as well as a micrometric system allowing observations and precise measurements. A brass plate bears the inscription “EFFET DU MICROMÈTRE,” accompanied by the indications “simple – double – quintuple” and three diagrams representing the different effects observed in the reticle. A technical instrument probably intended for scientific measurement or observation work. Beautiful antique patina with signs of use and oxidation. Dating estimate: around 1850–1890.
