Alle Auktionen / Teppiche & Textilien / Mid-Century Modern Swedish-Style Flatweave Carpet - 12 ft 4 in x 9
Curated collection of antique, vintage and modern rugs Mid-Century Modern Swedish-Style Flatweave Carpet Size: 12 ft 4 in x 9 ft 1 in (3.76 m x 2.77 m) Provenance: Property of New York dealer A large flatweave carpet inspired by the disciplined geometry and restrained modernism of twentieth-century Scandinavian design. The absence of a pile gives the design exceptional clarity, while the substantial room size makes the carpet well-suited to a contemporary interior. Swedish modern carpets were conceived as integral elements of interior architecture rather than secondary decoration. Their ordered compositions, tactile wool,l and controlled use of color helped establish Scandinavian textile design as an important force in international modernism.
