Modern Earrings with Diamonds & Coloured Gemstones in White Gold

These earrings radiate a colourful zest for life. The design features four large gemstones in sparkling settings. Each stone is surrounded by an entourage of smaller, colourful gemstones. Clasps set with white diamonds tie the elements together. At the top, each design features an amethyst set within a frame of rubies. The amethyst, in a deep lilac hue, is cut in a cushion shape. The rubies surrounding it are round-cut. Below each one, a lemon quartz is set within a movable entourage of green sapphires. The oval-cut lemon quartz stones glow with an intense greenish-yellow hue, while the round, star-cut sapphires shine in a light green. The earrings themselves are made of high-karat white gold. The settings for the rubies and sapphires are additionally rhodium-plated in black. The warm red and violet tones of the upper sections complement the cooler tones of the pendants: the combination appears cohesive and harmonious. This pair is a summery, cheerful greeting from Italy. Unfortunately, it is not signed, but the high-quality craftsmanship suggests that it was crafted in one of the northern Italian workshops that also produce pieces for major European jewellery houses. It was likely created shortly after the turn of the millennium, when jewellery featuring closely set stones mounted in dark rhodium-plated white gold became all the rage. We were able to acquire it as part of a collection of high-quality modern pieces in northern Italy.
