MONGOLIA - 18th/19th century A Nechung oracle hat with a wide, circular brim lined with fur and topped by a central papier-mâché cap, lacquered with the face of the furious Mahakala emerging from a yantra motif animated by nagas and smiling skulls. The whole is surmounted by a carved wooden finial depicting a kapala and a vajra. H. 48 cm. Base.
