About the Artist and the Artwork's Meaning: The Artist: Monir Islam (born 1943 in Bangladesh) is a highly esteemed contemporary artist, celebrated both in his home country and internationally (particularly in Spain, where he has long resided). He is widely recognized for his lyrical abstraction and exceptional mastery of printmaking techniques. Meaning: Titled Creación, this etching serves as a visual interpretation of the accompanying text: "« por el color, la partitura y la letra del mundo... »" (for the color, the score, and the lyrics of the world...). Monir Islam brings this concept to life through a vibrant, dynamic, and seemingly spontaneous abstract composition. The interplay of expressive lines, watercolor-like washes of color, and subtle graphic symbols evokes a sense of continuous genesis and the chaotic yet harmonious "score" of life and creation. Exceptional History and Provenance: Papal Tribute: This print belongs to the historic XV Anniversary Collection, an exclusive portfolio featuring twelve highly prestigious international painters commissioned to honor H.H. John Paul II on the fifteenth anniversary of his pontificate. Exhibited at the Holy See: The collection was originally presented on October 17, 1995, in the Conference Room of the Vatican Typography, and the original artworks from this tribute were exhibited within the Vatican itself. Vatican Typography & Exclusivity: All editorial materials, including the presentation folders, were printed using the exclusive Vatican Typography. To ensure that buyers acquire a truly unrepeatable piece, the original metal printing plates were permanently destroyed at the end of the process, an act officially certified by a Notary of Vatican City. Quality and Collector's Value: Masterful Execution: This piece highlights Monir Islam's virtuosic approach to etching. It features an incredibly complex and delicate network of lines, combined with subtle, painterly applications of color. The visible plate mark confirms its nature as a traditional, hand-pulled original print. Investment Opportunity: Offering an impeccable and historic Vatican provenance alongside the artist's original signature, this limited edition etching represents an excellent acquisition for collectors of lyrical abstraction and international contemporary graphic art.
