Only a few athletes are celebrated and honored like three-time world heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali, whose legendary moments in sport and in civil rights activism have made him one of the most influential athletes and humanitarians of the 20th century. As an athlete, Ali shook the world with his strength, skill, and personality, becoming the world heavyweight champion at just 22. However, his greatest triumphs came from his humanitarian efforts. Cast in precious black resin, the cap resembles a boxing bag while the cone resembles the tape boxers wrap around their hands. The cap features various design elements, such as a famous Ali quote and a butterfly inspired by this iconic fighting style: floats like a butterfly, stings like a bee. The pointed cone echoes this notion and is engraved with four lines representing the ropes of a boxing ring. The inscriptions on the cone refer to Ali’s victory at the 1960 Rome Olympics and his first world heavyweight title won in Miami in 1964. The details of his win, namely taking it in the seventh round by technical knockout, can be found on the cap. To celebrate his first title, the white resin Montblanc emblem is adorned with a 1. To underscore this achievement, the clip is shaped like a boxing championship belt and bears his name. The solid yellow gold Au 585 nib handmade shows a boxing glove.
