Murano glass - Necklace with pendant - Corallo Barocco

Entirely handmade in Murano, this sphere pendant is a small glass embroidery, where coral red intertwines with the transparency of crystal. The sphere, lamp-worked, has a heart in transparent crystal glass, entirely wrapped by thin filaments of coral red glass, applied by hand one by one. The filaments wind into swirls, curls and small raised dots, creating a fretwork-like arabesque pattern. The decoration recalls carved red coral, but it is drawn directly at the flame: between one curl and another the crystal lets light pass, giving depth and lightness to the whole sphere. The pendant is mounted on a head pin finished with two small red beads and a gold cup, and runs along a fine chain with a forced-link weave thanks to a gold bail with a worked surface. The push ring clasp, with extending chain, allows length adjustment. The princess-length makes the sphere rest at the base of the neck, just above the collarbones.
