Nativity scene - Plastic - Ten-part Christmas group.

Beautiful decorative Italian papier-mâché (cartapesta) nativity figures with a wood look. Circa 1950 This is a well-known and highly valued art form from Italy (especially from the Puglia region, such as Lecce). For centuries Italian craftsmen have created so-called finto legno (fake wood) statues from papier-mâché. This technique was developed at the time as a lighter and cheaper alternative to heavy, costly wooden church statues, but grew into a true specialty. The figures are painted and finished in a way that perfectly mimics the grains, incisions and warm shine of authentic carved wood. The group consists of Joseph and Mary with the baby Jesus. The three wise men from the East. Two shepherds, and the cow and donkey. Size: the largest piece measures 13.5 cm high. Condition: excellent, the heads of Joseph and the two wise men have been glued in the past. See photos Photos are part of the description. These were taken under artificial light; color may vary. Mood impressions are shown (AI) It is well packed and sent by registered mail. Jiljes, where quality and service come first!
