Stone: Natural Jasper-Chalcedony Weight: 3215,12g Size: 230x125x75mm Treatment: None Origin: Madagascar It is fossil wood dating back 200 million years, all parts from a log or branches have been silicified, meaning that organic components were gradually replaced by silicon in the form of jasper, chalcedony and more rarely opal. Without the organic parts, all living matter was replaced by stone: there are growth rings, cellular separations, almost like worm cracks. Its features are those of the mineral that would have pseudo-transformed the wood: the silicon. And that’s what we call petrified wood in common language. The lots were photographed under professional lights. Please note that the colours might differ depending on the monitor settings and light source.
