Alle Auktionen / Antike Kunst / Near Eastern Bronze Set of 5 spearheads
This set of five spearheads is notable for the variety of its defensive forms and its excellent state of preservation. The collection illustrates the evolution of piercing weapons, including leaf-shaped and lanceolate blades, designed to maximise penetration. All the pieces feature a reinforced central rib, crucial for preventing the bronze from bending on impact. The central point is notable for its extremely long and slender tang, suggesting it was used as a balanced projectile weapon. Provenance: Formerly in the Mr L. Collection, acquired during the 1980s; Acquired at R.E.B. Auctions, France, 2026 Statement seen by Catawiki. The seller guarantees that he is entitled to ship this lot. The seller will take care that any necessary permits will be arranged. The seller will inform the buyer about this if this takes more than a few days. For buyers outside the European Union (EU) a Spanish export license is required. This will take several weeks to arrange.
