Vintage sterling silver ring from the Swedish silversmith Alton, dated 1974. The design is clean and typifies Scandinavian modernism. At the center is a round, faceted rock crystal of about 8 mm in diameter, set in a smooth, high setting. The open underside of the setting lets light pass through the stone and highlights its clear, colorless appearance. The ring shank has an open construction and is therefore adjustable. At the top, the band is about 4 mm wide and gradually tapers to about 2.5 mm. The total height of the ring is about 8 mm. The ring is accompanied by extensive Swedish hallmarks: ALTON, the assay mark F for Falköping, the Swedish national control mark with three crowns, the silver mark S, the year letter Z9 for 1974, and STERLING 925. The ring is in good vintage condition. There are signs of wear and fine scratches visible, mainly on the underside of the ring band where normal wear occurs most. The rock crystal and the setting are otherwise in good condition.
