The antique Victorian bracelet is fashioned with a medium-blond hair braid made from Frisian women's hair. It closes with a tongue clasp in a large round form made of polished interwoven bands with pearl-stem caps. The centre is set with a round cabochon of black enamel with a small gold star. This show side is made in yellow gold of approximately 12 karats (57.4% gold), the reverse side in 800 silver (84% silver). This was confirmed by the master goldsmith through expert examination. The clasp bears relief caps for fastening the hair braid; these are made in shell gold / gold doublé. The hair braid is woven from two wide bands with different patterns. Length of the bracelet: about 19 cm; width: about 2.5 cm; diameter of the clasp: about 2.2 cm. A very well-preserved Biedermeier piece from around 1840/50 from Friesland or North Holland, in worn and well-kept condition. There are very small enamel flaws visible. A rarely preserved original piece of jewelry from the period 1840/50. The gold content of this lot is below the legal gold standard for some countries. Antique jewelry is often reworked, redesigned, or repaired to maintain enjoyment and extend its life. It is not unusual for older objects to show traces of such work as well as signs of wear.
