A substantial hand-carved pendant of natural lavender jadeite, set with an 18K gold (Au750) bail. NGTC certifies the jadeite as Type A, meaning it is untreated: no bleaching, no polymer impregnation and no dyeing. The front is carved in rich, layered relief with a fish among lotus leaves. The fish’s flowing fins and tail sweep down the length of the stone, framed by curling lotus leaves and small rounded details. The reverse is smooth and gently rounded, decorated with a finely incised lotus leaf whose veins radiate from its centre. The contrast between the deeply sculpted front and the calm, open back shows the jadeite at its best. Together, the lotus and fish form the classic Chinese motif 連年有餘 (“abundance year after year”). The lotus (蓮) echoes the word for “continuous”, and the fish (魚) the word for “surplus”, making this a traditional wish for lasting prosperity. The colour is light purple, as stated on the certificate. Soft lavender and blue-violet tones drift through the stone in bands and patches, set against luminous, translucent white areas. The carver has placed the deeper lavender within the fish and leaves on the front, where it brings depth and movement to the design. The polished 18K gold bail adds a warm, refined finish.
