Office chair - Beech - Thonet style

Very beautiful Thonet office chair / desk chair / writing chair (could also be from Jacob & Josef Kohn). The chair has no brand, stamp, or label on the bottom of the seat. The chair is 87 cm high, the width is 69.5 cm (! ) (armrest to armrest) and the depth is about 57 cm (from backrest to front). The diameter of the seat is about 52 cm and the seat height is 47 cm. The weight is about 5 kg. The chair still clearly features Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) styling, with the S-shaped curves of the beech wood, but it could also be described as Art Deco. This chair was probably produced between 1880 and 1910. Very beautiful is the woven seat, which is still in good condition (see photos). The seat is strong enough to support a heavy person. Also very beautiful are the two half-curved wooden supports, cross-mounted under the seat for added structural strength (see photos). The chair is still in good condition and 100% stable! Michael Thonet is regarded as the first and most important furniture designer. He was also the first to perfect steam-bending of wood to such an extent that it could be applied in industrial furniture production. In this chair, the steam-bent elements are clearly visible. This gave the Thonet chair its stability. Michael Thonet began producing this type of chair on an industrial scale in the mid-19th century. It is remarkable how stable this chair remains despite being over 100 years old! The chair still looks good for a chair over 100 years old. It is still 100% stable. The signs of use are natural wear. All original joining materials are still present. The chair is in unrestored original condition. It is ready for use. The wood still looks very good. Only at the very top of the backrest on the back is a scuff edge. Here the chair has probably bumped against something. This exceptional chair is not only a jewel in any interior, but also still a comfortable and functional piece of furniture! It is certainly also a conversation piece!!
