Her teachers, including Hugh Bolton Jones and William Merritt Chase, influenced her use of impressionism and Barbizon School style in her work. Black exhibited at many prominent institutions, including the National Academy of Design, the Carnegie Institute, the Boston Art Club, and the Art Club of Philadelphia.
