Onyx & Diamond Earrings Made of Antique Elements, from Our Workshop

Black and white, light and shadow, day and night: The contrasts that define the dynamic Art Deco decade continue to fascinate us to this day. The late 1920s were marked by social and economic tensions—but also by great new wealth, by forms of entertainment such as the cinema, and by life-changing developments such as the spread of the automobile. No wonder that a new fashion emerged during this time, one that sought to break just as radically with the past. Art Deco was international and modern in its elegant, graphic forms. Especially in the early years of this new style, monochromatic color schemes—black and white—were favored, as was the sparkle of diamonds. These earrings from our workshop are inspired by this era of contrasts and incorporate original Art Deco elements as the focal points of the design. Delicate platinum elements—which once belonged to an antique brooch that came to us incomplete—are mounted on a simple yellow gold ear hook. Two old-cut diamonds form the setting of this jewellery piece, adorned with milgrains. Suspended from each earring is a movable pendant made of black onyx. It complements the light metal color as a counterpoint and adds a beautiful, three-dimensional element to the flat design of the upper parts.
