~ PAIR OF ETRUSCAN ARMCHAIRS

Made of mahogany, mahogany veneer and wood painted to resemble bronze. The backs are curved downwards, the armrests feature winged sphinx-shaped consoles, and the moulding is decorated with radiating palmette motifs. The front legs are in the shape of lion’s paws, the rear legs sabre-shaped. Consulate period, attributed to Jacob Frères. Height: 94 cm – Width: 56 cm – Depth: 70 cm (Damage, losses and restorations) Upholstered in silk by Tassinari and Chatel, carried out by Maison Brazet in 2014. Swietenia mahagoni (II/B). Pre-Convention specimen.
