Palazzo di Varignana is a story of recovery and regeneration: of historic buildings, of abandoned rural lands and farmhouses, of ancient crops that had been lost. Founded in 2015, the farm now covers more than 700 hectares of land. Thanks to the restoration of ancient varieties of native olives, cultivated over 265 hectares, the production of Extra Virgin Olive Oil is today among the most awarded and recognized in the world. The Extra Virgin Olive Oil of Palazzo di Varignana has obtained the Municipal Origin Denomination from the Municipality of Bologna, standing out in the panorama of local excellence. The Municipality of Bologna has decided to establish its own Municipal Denomination (De.Co.), in order to census and enhance the territory’s agrifood activities and products and as a tool to promote Bologna’s image.
