Price, The Coinage in the Name of Alexander the Great and Philip Arrhidaeus, 2938. Perge, a Greek city of Pamphylia, struck silver tetradrachms in the name and types of Alexander the Great more than a century after his death, dated year by year by a local era beginning in 221/0 BC. The series ended in 189/8 BC; Meadows linked its close to the end of a period of Seleukid-sponsored freedom for the city. Many of these coins were later countermarked with the Seleukid anchor, authorising them again for circulation within the Seleukid kingdom.
