Partial Sheet of (2) Waxahachie, Texas. $5-$5 1929 Ty. 2. Fr. 1800-2. Citizens NB. Charter #13516. PCGS Banknote About Uncirculated 55. Burdened with faint evidence of technical circulation consistent with intermittent handling over the years and decades, bidders have here a real treat for their consideration from the Citizens National Bank in Waxahachie (Charter# 13516) dating to the 1930s. Here bidders are met with an uncut pair of T2 $5s which feature serial numbers that read "A013647" and "A013648" which collectively betray this pairing as a constituent of the penultimate sheet delivered to this bank by the Treasury Department. Yet even so bidders are faced with apparent "Mounting Remnants," but in the overall numismatic calculus and the eyes of a discerning and sophisticated collector, this noted imperfection is little more than a secondary consideration especially when held against the remarkable context of this rare item. PCGS Banknote comments "Mounting Remnants. Estimate: $1,000 - $1,500. Provenance: From the Jack Copeland Currency Collection, Part IV. Click here for certification details from PCGS Banknote.
