First organized as the First National Bank of Ochiltree (Charter# 8769) in 1907, this institution ultimately became the First National Bank of Perryton when the residents of Ochiltree sought to be closer to a rail line that connected Shattuck, Oklahoma to Spearman, Texas in 1919. This very move did add another layer of desirability to this institution, but notes regardless of the location imprint are rare items. The National Bank Note Census records a total of 15 non-institutional pieces on this institution for the "Perryton" imprint whereas only a single piece is recorded for the "Ochiltree" imprint. Now this particular example was issued during the 1930s, but still offers collectors a tantalizing prospect by virtue of the single-digit serial number that reads "A000005" and the uncommon originality and eye appeal this example offers for the grade assigned.
