Large Hand-Carved Petrified Wood Bowl with Detailed Center Core – 31 cm / 5.7 kg – Dipterocarpus – Java, Indonesia (Miocene) Description: An extraordinary hand-carved display bowl crafted from a solid trunk section of petrified wood (Dipterocarpus sp.) sourced from Java, Indonesia. Dating back to the Miocene epoch (approx. 5 to 23 million years ago), this 5.7 kg piece features a deeply hollowed interior basin set against a thick, beautifully textured natural log perimeter. Visual & Aesthetic Highlights: * Intricate Heartwood Core: The center of the polished basin showcases a distinct, fossilized core with white and light chalcedony mineral fills branching through rich mocha-brown growth rings. * Deeply Grooved Bark Wall: Carved with an 8 cm tall profile that preserves the dramatic, vertical wood-fiber texture along the unpolished outer walls. * High-Gloss Interior Finish: Expertly polished inside the bowl to accentuate the soft cream and taupe tones of the ancient wood grain, creating an elegant contrast with the raw rim. * Substantial Statement Piece: Measuring 31 cm in width and 25 cm in depth, this bowl makes a luxurious centerpiece for display tables or natural history collections.
