Alle Auktionen / Sonstige / Picture frame (3)- Folk art - Glass, Wood, Paint - Reverse glass painting
Three-piece ensemble of Alpine reverse-glass painting – Allgäu folk art For sale is a charming three-part ensemble of decorative reverse-glass paintings with Alpine motifs. The three pictures depict different popular scenes from the Allgäu/Alpine region: a traditional costume couple labeled “Allgäu,” a male folk-costume figure, and a wandering or rural man in traditional clothing. The motifs were executed directly on the back of the glass panes, which makes them appear especially color-intense and with the characteristic shine of reverse-glass painting. All three works are housed in suitable, decoratively designed frames with red, green, and gold elements. Through the uniform format and identical framing, the three pictures form a very beautiful cohesive ensemble. Details: * 3 reverse-glass pictures * Alpine/Allgäu motifs * folkloric depiction * decorative, colorful execution * uniform original frames * exterior dimensions per picture: approx. 22.5 × 28 cm * visible image area: approx. 17 × 23 cm * frame depth: approx. 1 cm * age probably 20th century * condition as befits age with light signs of wear A decorative ensemble with a beautiful connection to Alpine folk art, interesting both as wall decoration and for a collection of folk art. Note: A signature or definite artist attribution could not be determined. The classification as Alpine/Allgäu reverse-glass painting is based on the motifs, execution, and the inscription “Allgäu.”
