Description and context: Wide, shallow bowl with a turned, wavy edge on a foot that is squeezed from lobes like a log and shows vertical wave ribs. The blue threads are laid on, spirally wound and pulled with tools, causing them to run as arches in the edge and as waves in the foot. The underside is flat-ground and polished, with a small swirl of the pontil mark. At 1545 grams and 28 cm, it is heavy crystal. This type of manual craft emerged in the second half of the 20th century from several countries; no maker is claimed. Condition: Good. Edge and foot: no chipping, cracks or restorations observed. Glass mass: a few tiny bubbles, production-related to hand-blown crystal. Underside: flat-ground and polished, with a small swirl of the pontil mark and light signs of use. See the photos.
