Playful Platinum & Diamond Clip, Art Deco Around 1930

The Rococo, the courtly world of elegance and luxury, radiated out from France into the world not only at the end of the 18th century. As a dreamland of beauty and gallant amusement, the years of the late 18th century remained long in the collective memory. From the middle of the 19th century, for example, Sisi's and Franz Joseph's rooms in the Hofburg in Vienna were decorated in the rococo style, and an apartment for the empress was also built in Venice: the KuK monarchy could thus see itself as the new empire of a sun king. In the 1920s, the world once again experienced a rococo craze. While at the same time Art Deco began to celebrate its successes, room furnishings in the Rococo style were once again created in the USA as well as in Europe parallel to the modern, cool geometric designs. Especially for the bedroom of a lady, for garden pavilions and elegant banquet halls, this formal language lent itself so well that it found numerous uses. The clip presented here was created from this fashion and combines the Art Deco desire for white jewellery made of diamonds and platinum with the sensuous forms of the Rococo. Elegant sweeps form the rocaille that gave the era its name, while curved wires recall those garlands of plants that sprawled across curtains, walls, and furniture in Rococo salons. The result is a piece of jewellery that wants to whisk you away to a romantic, fairy-tale counterworld. And let's be honest: who wouldn't want to dream this dream once in a while? The clip - which, by the way, is probably the most typical Art Deco brooch shape of all - is made of platinum. An independent certificate has also confirmed the preciousness of the piece.
