Ralf Altrieth - Le gardien - XXL

Ralf Altrieth's paintings first give an impression of energy and spontaneity. Then the gaze lingers and gradually discovers a more complex world, traversed by moving forms, unforeseen encounters and unexpected equilibria. Nothing is fixed. The work evolves ceaselessly depending on the distance, the light and the time spent before it. In this universe, the boundary between abstraction and figuration remains intentionally unstable. Possible silhouettes surface, depths are suggested, never fixed. The gaze is solicited, set in motion. Seeing becomes an active, almost physical, experience. But beyond their immediate energy, Ralf Altrieth's works settle durably in space. They settle through their density. Through their presence. And through this rare ability to transform the space in which they take place. From the crucible of improvisation he brings forth a world intact made of spontaneous joys and strong impulses." — Dr Friedhelm Häring, art historian and museum director "His writing through gesture and color describes a world open to new voices and to experiences never attempted.
