Ralf Altrieth - Sans titre - XL

Acrylic on heavy paper, ivory tone 75 x 105 cm Signed and dated on the back by the artist Certificate of authenticity signed by Ralf Altrieth DESCRIPTION: A free, poetic and deeply living presence. At the border between painting, drawing and plastic writing, this painting bears witness to a deeply personal language of Ralf Altrieth: an art of making arise, from a few lines and a few shapes, worlds that seem to have their own rules. Between free figuration, instinctive drawing and graphic poetry, the work does not tell a precise story. It suggests rather situations, characters and relationships that each viewer is free to interpret. The gaze thus moves from one form to another, gradually discovering a universe that seems both familiar and surprising. This painting has a presence in space: it attracts with its drawing and contrasts, then holds the viewer's gaze with details and unexpected associations that appear little by little. It brings a touch of freedom and poetry to an interior, never reduced to a mere decorative effect. CRITIQUE: "There is a lot of poetry in this painting, as in all of this artist's works. They are populated with narrative codes and fantastical tales. In this sense, Ralf Altrieth's pictorial poems are a pure childish chant... But the most astonishing thing manifested in these paintings is a communicative tenderness for the states of mind of the human being." — Dr. Friedhelm Häring, museum director and art historian "His writing through gesture and color describes a world open to new voices and experiments never attempted. His canvases and works on paper demonstrate that painting remains a major expression of the contemporary scene." — Laurent Puech, art historian and curator BIOGRAPHY : Ralf Altrieth (Heilbronn, 1966) is a Franco-German painter and musician recognized for his expressive and spontaneous universe, at the border of figuration and abstraction.
