Rare origin

From our selection of collectible minerals, we present a rare Smoky Quartz crystal from the Yuma Mine, in the Ellsworth Mining District of the Granite Wash Mountains, in Arizona. Moreover, it features a large single crystal of notable dimensions, with a well-developed termination and a surface covered by oxides that give suggestive brown and gray tones, increasing its aesthetic value and mineralogical importance. The specimen stands out for the quality of crystallization and for the overall aesthetic balance, with features that enhance its natural structure and visual impact. The characteristic smoky color of quartz is due to color centers generated by natural irradiation of trace aluminum within the silicon dioxide crystal lattice. The Yuma Mine, located in the Ellsworth mining district between the Granite Wash Mountains of La Paz County, Arizona, is a little-known locality on the international collecting scene and thus represents a rare provenance on the market. The oxide patina coating the crystal surface is typical of supergenic alteration processes that occur near the Earth’s surface. This is an ideal specimen for mineral collections, display, and for those who appreciate the natural beauty of minerals, also within the realm of crystal therapy and lithotherapy, according to the properties traditionally associated with the mineral species. All minerals are 100% natural and untreated, except for rare exceptions always noted in the description. Photographs are taken with professional lighting to best showcase colors and details; however, slight variations in shade may occur depending on the device or ambient light.
