Reliquary - Alloy - 1850-1900 - Holy Cross of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Gold filigree reliquary pendant – Holy Cross – 19th century – Italy Beautiful gold filigree reliquary pendant, crafted in a wide radiating composition of vegetal motifs and openworked leaves. Several elements are adorned with red faceted glass stones, bezel-set with a pearl-bordered edge, providing a particularly decorative contrast to the filigree. In the center, there is a small heart-shaped reliquary on a red textile background. It contains at its center a relic of the Holy Cross, surrounded by a silvered metallic decor. The back preserves its red wax seal, held by the securing threads, an important element indicating that the reliquary compartment was formerly closed and sealed. The mount is fitted with a bail for wearing as a pendant. Very beautiful example of popular devotional metalwork, remarkable for the finesse and abundance of its filigree decoration. Excellent antique condition. Some small deformations or fragilities of the delicate filigree work are visible and consistent with age. Old sealing preserved on the back. The photos are an integral part of the object description and complement its presentation. Please study them carefully before any engagement. The item will be carefully packed and shipped with a tracking number, to ensure rapid and secure delivery. Happy bidding In accordance with canonical law (can. 1190 §1), this sale concerns only the reliquary as a sacred art object. The reliquaries it contains are not the subject of the transaction, but are included gratuitously for their historical and cultural value.
